What is Prickly Pod?

A refillable holder for solid fertilizer. Its perforated design lets water pass through, while its prickly exterior helps deter curious critters.

What fertilizer can I use?

Use solid fertilizer that fits inside the pod and does not fall through its openings. Always follow your fertilizer’s directions for quantity and application. Fertilizer is not included.

Will it stop every animal?

Prickly Pod helps deter curious critters. Animal behavior varies, and no deterrent can guarantee that animals will leave your plants alone.

How many pods does my tree need?

That depends on your pot, tree, and fertilizer instructions. Pack size is the number of empty pods you receive, not a fertilizer dosage recommendation.

Can I refill the pods?

Yes. Open the pod, remove remaining material, and refill as needed. Inspect for wear before reuse and handle the prickly surface with care.

THE PRICKLY POD STORY

Good ideas tend

Prickly Pod started with something familiar: caring for bonsai and noticing the curious visitors that came with them. We wanted a simple way to contain solid fertilizer while making it a little less inviting.

So we made a little pod with a prickly exterior. A practical addition to the daily ritual of growing something you love.
